Helping Adolescents Work Through the Rising Tide of Anxiety

Rhett Smith has an excellent article on the Fuller Institute website about Anxiety and Youth. Relating through his experiences of anxiety in his own life as well as his professional life as a therapist, he lists several practical strategies that we can use as adults to help and support youth with anxiety. An insightful read, and a good reminder that anxiety is an increasingly relevant problem for youth.

Funding for grass roots youth ministry

The Simkin House Fund exists to support youth ministry throughout the Diocese of Auckland.  It is distributed once a year.  The trustees will fund up to 50% of any project and will give priority to events (i.e. camps, retreats, and training) directly targeting teenagers.  The total funds for distribution are normally between $2500 -3000 (they are dependent on the interest earned by the Fund).

New Anglican Youth Ministry Qualification

This new qualification is the result of a collaboration between Laidlaw College and St John’s College. Students would gain a Bachelor of Ministries which would include youth ministry papers, Anglican Studies papers and field work. This qualification will be overseen by our National Youth Advisor for Tikanga Pakeha, Phil Trotter. Simkin House Fund

The Simkin House Fund is here to support Youth Ministry throughout the Diocese of Auckland. The Fund gives priority to the funding of camps, retreats, holiday programmes and youth events over the purchase of equipment.
